The 80% out of the 1,000 employers I worked in were, in the words of an article in The New York Times, “The only group that did less, a group that was not, was the vast majority of them.
The average job offer for a work-study program was $15 per month. Of course, it was high but it didn’t stop me from starting my career. In fact, I didn’t even think about it until I signed up for work-study so the average employer offered an additional $15 per month. It was too early to figure out what it meant to work-study.
It was, in this context, the early 1980s. The year was 1980. It was also the year I graduated high school but I didnt know it at the time. I think I was probably a couple of years too young to know what the meaning of these numbers meant. I certainly didn’t know how many people were getting hired and fired. (I think I was probably just a couple of years too young to have ever heard of this specific group as well.
I grew up in a small Texas town that had a fairly large number of employers in this field. I was pretty sure that the large majority of them offered some sort of health/fitness program.
I’m not going to argue that employers have no responsibility to offer a healthfitness program. Many of them do provide, and many of them have been around forever. I do, however, think that the employers who are doing so now are not necessarily doing so very long ago. Most of them are new businesses, and they are beginning to realize that they need to pay for the healthfitness programs of their employees if they want to keep their jobs.
The truth is, most of them are not new businesses. They’ve been around for a couple of years, and have been around for a while now. In fact, I think that just about every big business in the world has some very high-quality health-fitness programs. For example, the U.S.
health and fitness industry is actually the second largest employer in the United States. The majority of U.S. businesses offer health and fitness programs, and the majority of our employees are not newbie workers, but employees who need to improve their health and fitness habits. Companies are not just hiring employees; they are hiring “health coaches” to coach their employees. While some health coaches are paid on a schedule, others charge hourly.
Health and fitness programs are important because many of our employees are at a point in their lives when they need to take some kind of health or fitness program. It’s not just a newbie employee who needs to be working out. Most of our employees are adults who need to make changes.

Many of the workers who worked for Colt’s party had no idea that they were at a point in their lives when they needed to take some kind of health or fitness program. Maybe they don’t make any changes at all, but it’s a good indicator that they are on the right path.
