I dont think finance internships will make you happy, but they will provide you with experience that will make you more competent as a professional. This is a huge benefit because as a developer, you need to learn as much as you can about how to best utilize a given platform, and not just a given language. For that reason, I dont think finance internships are a good way to become a developer.
