I am more aware of what’s important than what is.

The company that hired me and our team to write an actual business intelligence report on the death-looping team and that is a good thing, because the company is based in China. They’re not the biggest (if ever) business intelligence people in the world, but they are the ones that are the most interesting… for us it’s the most important.
And yes, I see where this is going, and we feel that we know enough about the business to be able to get a fair understanding of the data, but the data is not always that important, and it doesn’t always serve you well when you’re trying to figure out how to get a good handle on the data.
So we are seeking business intelligence results from a variety of sources, including some local news outlets. This will be a free service, and we are hoping to make it available to more people.
A company called EconoMonitor recently launched a similar service (called EconoWatch) which does similar things, but for companies that use the Internet as a sales tool. So far they’ve had some success (at least in the US), but like us, their initial customer base is fairly small. It’s also worth noting that Google Analytics only provides the amount of people talking about a given topic, not the actual conversations themselves.
